Alignment of the deduced amino acid sequence of CphEal with other known and predicted cyanophycinases and PepE. The potential signal peptides of the extracellular CGPases are underlined. Only
the residues in the vicinity of the catalytic site are shown for CphB and PepE. The
proposed catalytic residues (GXSXG, H and E) are shaded light gray. Residues proposed
to be involved in substrate binding (Law et al. 2009) are shaded dark gray. For sequence alignment, the CLUSTAW was used. CphEal from P. alcaligenes DIP1; Cyanophycinase from P. mendocina; CphEpa from P. anguilliseptica BI; Cyanophycinase from Synechocystis PCC6803; PepE from Salmonella typhimurium. Numbering for the CphEal protein is given at the end of the line.
